Find the right job sites to advertise your job

To find the most relevant job sites and job boards to advertise your vacancies, be as specific as possible in your search. Fill in as many details as you can about your job including country location, region, job role title and industry sector. The more detail we have, the better results we'll be able to give you.

To illustrate, let us suppose you are looking for an accountant. If you select "Accounting/Audit/Finance Support" as your only search criterion, you will get lots of job sites and job boards from all over the world in the search results. That's because there are lots and lots of job sites and job boards all over the world that cover accounting roles.

If, on the other hand, you are more specific and select "United Kingdom" (Country), "Northwest" (Location), "Accounting/Audit/Finance Support" (Job Role) and "Banking/Financial Services" (Industry Sector), you will get far fewer and much more relevant job sites and job boards.

Searching for specialist or niche job sites and job boards

In Advanced Search you can search for job sites specialising in particular Locations, Job Roles or Industry sectors. For example, selecting 'London' and not selecting 'Specialist' will find all job sites that cover jobs in 'London.' However, selecting 'London' and also ticking the 'Specialist' box will find only those job sites that focus specifically on jobs in London (perhaps, to the exclusion of other locations.) The same logic applies when searching for niche job sites by Job Role and Industry Sector.

Note: For best results, do not combine 'Specialist' searches (e.g. search for specialist sites by Job Role and Location).

The whatjobsite Search Criteria

Country: To find the best job sites for your vacancy, choose the country in which your job vacancy is located. Currently, whatjobsite focuses on job sites and job boards in the United Kingdom and Ireland. We also feature a number of job sites in Europe and the Rest of the World.

Location: In what part of the country is your vacancy located? Again, be as specific as you can be. Many job sites target particular locations.

Job Role or Title: Be sure to specify the job role you are trying to fill. We have tried to include as many common job roles as possible but, of course, we can't cover everything. If your job role isn't in the drop down list, try a job role that's similar to it to find job sites that will carry it.

Industry: What industry sector does your company operate in? Again, many job sites specialise in particular industry sectors. To ensure they feature well in your search results specify the industry sector.

Job Type: Is your vacancy temp or perm? Contract or part-time? Many job sites are better at one type of job than another. And many job sites specialise in temp and contract roles. Be sure to specify.
