How to get the most out of whatjobsite

Get the most out of whatjobsite

There is a little bit of mathematics going on in the background of whatjobsite. Don't worry, we won't go into the details, but knowing a little about how the job site search works will help you find the right job sites more quickly and easily.

How whatjobsite finds relevant job sites

When you search whatjobsite we bring you back a ranked list of all the job sites that match your requirements. The ranking position of each job site is established by estimating the number of potential job seekers using that job site for your particular search. That is, job sites with the largest estimated job seeker audience appear first with those with smaller audiences coming next.

How whatjobsite estimates candidate audience for job sites

When a job site is added to our database, we ask for a profile of what job roles, locations, industry sectors etc. the job site covers —and how well it covers them— as well as how many people use the job site (Unique Users). By analysing this profile and the number of users, we estimate potential user audience for your search and rank the site accordingly.

How to find the most relevant job sites for your job

Be as specific as you can be in your search. If you search simply for IT roles, you'll get lots and lots of job sites. That's because there are hundreds of job sites that cover IT jobs. On the other hand, if you search for job sites covering contract IT roles in London in the Media sector, you'll find far fewer but much more relevant job sites.

How to "shortlist" job sites you like

When you click on a search result you are taken to a job site profile which features a description of that site as well as an outline of its features and services. There is also a handy "shortlist" function which allows you to "save" the sites to review later.

How to find specialist or niche job sites

Use the specialist option in Advanced Search to find specialist or niche sites. You can search for job sites specialising in Job Roles, Locations and Industry sectors. For best results choose only one specialism at a time as few job sites specialise across areas.

How to choose a job site using whatjobsite
