Job site review: Loadzajobs.ie

Review: Loadzajobs.ie (Verdict: 0 out of 10)

This review of Loadzajobs.ie was conducted as a secret shopper experience. We approached the site with a "hypothetical" vacancy. The role to be advertised was an Admin/Secretary job for an estate agents office based in Dublin 2 on a salary of €25 to 28K. The job site did not know that this was a review call. Loadzajobs.ie whatjobsite profile.  Reviewed: September 2007.

The Loadzajobs.ie website

Loadzajobs.ie is a job board with all of the typical features you'd expect, including jobs-by-email, CV-uploads and a user account to track job applications. We were a little disappointed by the site search. First of all, it doesn't provide a salary search option. Secondly, the search results were a little off at times. A search for "graduate jobs," for example, brought back jobs that weren't for graduates. Another niggle was that Loadzajobs.ie seems to get some of its job inventory from the Independent Newspaper classifieds. In print you are paying per word or line which means that you tend to write as little as possible. As a result many job ads were absurdly short.

How Loadzajobs.ie works

In truth, we cannot really be sure how Loadzajobs.ie works. It was difficult to find out even the most basic information. The call was taken by a Loadzajobs.ie customer service person. I told him that I wanted to advertise a job and without asking about my job, or anything else for that matter, he told me that if I had only one job to advertise I should call the recruitment advertising department at Independent Newspapers. Not a good start.

After some pressing, I was informed that, while I could advertise on Loadzajobs.ie, if I really wanted to, I would get free advertising on Loadzajobs.ie if I advertised in one of the newspapers. I asked how much such print advertising might cost but the customer service person couldn't tell me.

I then asked if he had any idea how many people might use Loadzajobs.ie. He said he didn't know and that it was not the kind of information they collected but then went on to say that if I rang the newspaper they might be able to help. I did later ring the newspapers. They could tell me nothing about Loadzajobs.ie and recommended that I talk to someone at Loadzajobs.ie. The newspapers, on the other hand, had over 1.5 million readers.

The Loadzajobs.ie Products

I was unable to find out about advertising products available on Loadzajobs.ie, as nobody wanted to sell me anything for Loadzajobs.ie. Instead, I was told to advertise in the newspaper. When I rang the newspaper I was told that print advertising cost €12 per line. At four or five words per line, a 100-word ad would cost between €220 and €240. I asked about Loadzajobs.ie and was told that it would cost another €80 to put my job on there (so the total cost would be around €300.) What we found particularly frustrating was that while we could be charged €80 for the Loadzajobs.ie, no one could tell us anything about Loadzajobs.ie

Loadzajobs.ie user statistics and site demographics

In spite of my best efforts, I was unable to establish any user figures for Loadzajobs.ie with anybody at Loadzajobs.ie or Independent Newspapers. A quick search on Google, however, found a media pack which quoted a figure of 150,000 unique users a month for Loadzajobs.ie. From our analysis, this figure seems about right.

Loadzajobs.ie — the Pros and Cons

The Pros: Unfortunately, we can't point to any positives in our experience with this job site.

The Cons: The most basic and fundamental failure of this job site is that nobody I spoke could tell me much about it —neither pricing nor product offering. How is one to make a recruitment advertising decision based on nothing?

Overall verdict. 0 out of 10

Everyone and every company has a bad day, and that's what might have happened to us with Loadzajobs.ie. Your experience might be different. That being said, we would still maintain that when purchasing any advertising, the first thing you would want to know is how many people might see your ad. Loadzajobs.ie simply couldn't answer this basic question. This poor quality service is unfortunate, as Loadzajobs.ie seems to be a job site with reasonable user traffic. Loadzajobs.ie, however, might not be a real and viable stand-alone online recruitment option; but as a bolt-on for the newspapers, it may well be worthwhile.
