Paying too much for a job board ad
It’s not easy being an employer and choosing job boards to advertise on. We at whatjobsite try to help by only featuring quality job boards in our search results. We could include many more, but we just don’t feel that they are good places to advertise. And one of the most important conditions for inclusion on whatjobsite is clear and honest pricing. We feel this is very important for employers.
For example, why should an employer be asked to pay two different prices for the same job ad? We discovered this happens quite a lot while conducting research into the larger job board networks and how the jobs ads are moved around them. Sadly, job boards are charging different prices for the same product.
Here’s how it works. If, for example, you advertise on the national brand, you are charged a certain price for the job ad. The job ad goes on this site and is then re-posted across hundreds of local sites in the UK. If, however, you have the misfortune to first approach one of the local brands in the network, you are charged a different and always higher price. The job ad goes on the local site, as before, the national site, as before, and is reposted across the network, as before. But the price isn’t as before. You pay more.
There is no justification for it. The same job ad will appear in exactly the same place. It’s a case of buyer beware! Check out our updated article “When is a job board not a job board?“
