Work for Us makes Facebook recruiting easy

There has been a lot of interesting talk about using Facebook and Twitter as part of a social media recruiting strategy. It’s clear that using Facebook and Twitter are obvious additions to your recruitment sourcing strategy.

However, as the whole social media recruitment strategy is still a rather new and exciting area there is a tendency by self-appointed ‘experts’ to make a meal out of what is really a cream cracker — and charge you a lot of money for that cracker too.

So, it is with some relief that we picked up a story from Jobs Portal Watch about a new Facebook app which gives companies with Facebook fan pages a very simple way of posting their jobs on their Facebook Fan Pages.

Work for Us is a simple light app that plugs into a company fan page, integrating with the wall feed and also adding a tab. In effect, it creates a job section on your fan page. It’s pretty basic but that’s its strength.  You can post jobs (or pull them from the web – though we couldn’t get that bit to work)  and have candidates apply by email or via your company web page (or anywhere else online).

We had a very simple play with it this morning on the 30 day trial plan. It took us five minutes to set up, to post a job and be done. If only all of recruiting was like this. It’s $9 a month for the paid app which allows a larger volume of jobs. As Facebook career apps goes, I haven’t seen anything better so far.

Such a cool business idea. I am sure a lot of established companies would prefer something like this, though I am not so sure of the smaller companies.

Chloe, do you have access stats for jobs using this platform?

In my experience though, so far the only proven recruitment use of Facebook is to poach employees of select companies through targeted advertising. Would be interesting to know your thoughts
