Writing great job ads

For all the text and blogs about job posting and writing jobs ads that work, one thing is often neglected. It’s quite an important thing too as it’s the first and often the last thing a job seeker will see of a job ad. What is it? It’s the intro text.

The intro text is that small snippet of text that appears in the search results of job boards. When job seekers search for jobs on job boards they are usually given a list of matching jobs. Of course, they don’t get the whole job ad in the list; they just get a small snippet of the job ads.

When you think about it, this small snippet of text is perhaps the most important text that a job seeker is going to read. It is that snippet that will make them click on the ad to see more or simply pass over it and go on to the next ad. Spending some time on this snippet text can be the most important thing you do to help your ad succeed.

With this in mind, then, we have written a new article for our Recruiter Zone that will help direct recruiters write better job snippets by understanding what that snippet must do to be a success. We’ve got some nice examples of job ads from job boards that show what to do and what not to do.  Hope you like it.

I agree very much with your advice, but as you say at the start of the ‘How to get candidates to read you job ad’, it depends on the job board.
